New Digital Driver License Rolling out This Year
Welcome to the 21st century! Service NSW (or the RTA if you’re a bit older and still can’t get used to the new name) is currently trialing a new electronic driver license. This means that in the not too distant future you won’t be required to keep a physical copy of your license on you as long as you have the digital version. And it’s not just for the police, you’ll be able to present your digital license as a photo ID at licensed venues such as bars and clubs, hotels, vehicle hire companies, tobacco retailers and more.
Eastern Suburbs Residents are Eligible now!
A trial is currently underway and if you live in the following Sydney Eastern Beaches suburbs you can start right away:
- 2022 – Bondi Junction
- 2024 – Bronte
- 2026 – Bondi
- 2031 – Randwick/Clovelly
- 2034 – Coogee
Simply visit the My Service website for full details and register for the trial.
Please remember that during the trial period only police and businesses within the eastern suburbs region will accept the digital ID so it’s still a good idea to keep the physical copy on you until the trial is over. Central Autohaus however will be accepting the digital license right away so feel free to use it as ID when collecting one of our courtesy cars with your next car service.
